Look To The Day

So sad were the feelings on the day that we parted
Though I knew that you could no longer stay
I looked into your eyes, I hoped that you’d miss me
And that you’d soon return, now I look to the day

On my wall there’s a scene from the fields of Zimbabwe
Where the workers still toil for their mistress the land
Whilst behind them the jugglers schoolchildren and beggars
Turn their eyes to the hills and there handful of sand

I remember the days, the nights we spent kissing
I remember your secrets, your hopes and your fears
And as my thoughts fly away to you that I’m missing
I long for the day when I’ll next hold you near

For love it glows warm from a spark or a cinder
Hearts carried away in the eye of the storm
But a fire will soon die if you starve it of tinder
And a memory soon fade in the cauld light of dawn

So sad were the feelings on the day that we parted
Though I knew that you could no longer stay
I looked into your eyes, I hoped that you’d miss me
And that you’d soon return, now I look to the day
