Hamish Mhor’s Session

« back

Written following the sad passing of of Jim Knight in January 2012. “Big Jim” had a voice and personality to match making him a great session host. He always insisted on a flat pint of lager and played an old Yasuma guitar held together by a  welding repair job.

Chorus
Come on in, sit down, may I buy ye a drink
There’s a seat over here, where we’re all goin’ tae sing
Davie this is Peter and Sue this is John
Come on sit down beside me, come join in, let’s all sing along

And tae any o’ you in the bar wi’ a voice
Your turn’s comin’ next, better you keep down the noise
A’ll gie ye ma banter, ma jokes and ma craic
Ye’ll all have a good time and I know that ye’ll all be comin’ back

(Chorus)

We’ve songs from the East and we’ve songs from the West
We’ve songs for the lassies we a’ love the best
We’ve songs from the Hielands, we’ve songs from the coast
Of Willie the dancer, and a song about Clyde Shipyard ghosts

(Chorus)

Mine’s a pint o’ lager, tell the barmaid whit a said
Just tell her it’s for me, and it’ll come without a head
Have ye met Siobhion and Carol, that’s them comin’ through the door
Wi ma grand daughter Maddie, let’s sing like we’ve never sung before

(Chorus)

My trusty auld Yasuma, she’s playin’ as well as ever
Wid ye look here at the back where she wis welded back together
Have a look, try her oot, take a shot, have a go
Come on give us one o’ your songs, come join in, and let the music flow

(Chorus)
